You deserve a safe space to talk.

Transforming rural mental healthcare

I am a Masters level therapist who believes that everybody should have someone they can talk to; someone who can meet their mental health needs; someone who they can trust for support. The goal of online and in person rural therapy is to provide services for those who may have a difficult time getting to a physical space in the city, or who are more comfortable online. For many years I have witnessed the difficulty for those in rural communities to access mental health support and believe a practice in the small community of Forestburg can serve many of the surrounding rural communities.

It is essential for me that all clients get the support that matches who they are. While I practice Narrative Therapy often, I am also trained in other modalities. I believe that therapy is a winding road map that is driven by the client. I work at a pace that best represents each of my clients and utilize the modalities that best serve the client’s needs.

A bit about me…

I grew up on a farm near Brownfield AB, which served as the landscape that shaped me into the person I am today. That paired with summers spent with my other set of grandparents on their beautiful acreage allowed me the literal space to grow and discover the beauty of the world around me.

When I left high school, it was with the full intention of going into Criminal Law. As my first year ended, I had to make the decision to go down the path of forensics (I can’t handle blood at all) or into the criminal law side. I had a bit of a panicked moment, but with the right people guiding me, I decided to take my Bachelors of Secondary Education.

After 20 years spent in education, teaching high school English, working as an Educational Technology Coordinator, and finally taking on the roles of Assistant Principal and Principal, I was seeing the rapid decline in mental health for many people. I decided that I wanted to go back to get my masters in Psychology, and thankfully, I had the background courses to do that.

I worked full time as a teacher and administrator while completing my masters, and while it was very difficult work, I knew that it was exactly what I was passionate about.
